Miley Cyrus Ecstatic At New Vevo Record Despite Losing Out To One Direction

Miley Cyrus shared her excitement this weekend after smashing a VEVO record, which comes just days after another record previously held by the star was overtaken by One Direction's latest single 'Best Song Ever'.

The former Hannah Montana star, racked up 100 million views for her controversial video 'We Can't Stop' which was later confirmed  as the fastest time a video has ever reached that amount of views.

The star took to Twitter to boast about her impressive achievement and thank her loyal army of followers.
The 20-year-old wrote: "We got 100 million views?!?!?! Oh my god! We did it! We broke the vevo record! 100 million views in 37 days maaaafakkkkas!!!! Directors cut coming soon! (sic).

Miley has been campaigning in a desperate bid to reach the milestone all week, even promising fans that she would treat them to a new version of the video, if they helped her break the VEVO record.

The mischievous singer raised eyebrows in her sexually suggestive video where she is seen writhing around on a bed bed and 'Twerking'.

Miley Cyrus smashed the VEVO record with 100 million views in 37 days

Miley's achievement comes just days after she lost her crown to British pop band, One Direction, who broke her previous record for the most views in 24 hours.
The music video site had announced last week that Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan - who also appear in drag in the video - had racked up 12.5 million views just a day after its upload.

An official tweet from VEVO read: “The New 24hr Record = 12.3 MILLION. Just….WOW. #Directioners ain’t playin. #BSEVEVORECORD.” The boyband may find it harder to top the UK charts though and it’s been confirmed that as of last Wednesday, they had failed to knock Avicii off the top spot by the time the mid week figures were collated.
